In 2009, I also became co-founder of cozwecan.com. The primary goal of the company is to develop web properties in concepts that are not new, but rather poorly implemented to date and compete directly with those companies that do not currently provide a great usability story to their users.
We would like to raise the level of quality and usability for those people and hopefully convince enough of them to come on board to sustain a great working relationship. We're tired of the way that some large e-commerce providers treat their users, and suppliers, and we'd like to turn that paradigm on its head.
The first port of call for us is the professional photography industry. We really would like to take photography back to being proper profession and an art. There are currently too many people exploiting and diluting what should be beautiful and treating it like an expendable commodity.
If you want to stay updated on our progress in that area, then you can read the blog at blog.cozwecan.com or follow the team on twitter.
Open source:
I'm currently contributing as much of my spare time to some open source initiatives that I believe are tremendously valuable to the .Net and general programming communities. As is the case for everyone, I don't have all the spare time in the world and so my efforts need to be fairly focussed if I am to have any effect at all.
Current Open Source projects I'm contributing to:
- Spark View Engine: While this project is fairly mature, it has had such a profound effect on how I work with and look at Web UI design that I can't help looking for small areas to contribute. You can read some of my posts here to find out more about this.
- FubuMVC - I'm currently focused on integrating the Spark View Engine functionality. The code can be found here and you can read my post about progress.
- Fohjin - A project started by Mark Nijhof as a pure Domain Driven Design (DDD) application showing off CQRS as a valid application strategy. I have mainly worked on getting the web bits tied in using Microsoft MVC 2.
