It all started...
...for me at a very young age. Dad was a computer programmer and salesman in the 1980's and Mum was a COBOL college lecturer with many years of experience under her belt.
No pressure then! So inevitably I just fell into it - I still remember programming snippets and songs into the ZX Spectrum at the age of 8 and haven't looked back since!
Today...
...I quite literally eat, sleep and breathe all things tech, and although my expertise lie mainly in the .Net space since the beta in 2000, I love delving into all sorts, including functional and dynamic languages.
Luckily my other half is a med-student and doesn't mind that I sit in while she studies and I write code in our spare time. Great quality time if you can get it!

In all seriousness...
...I have an avid passion for clean and efficient code that adheres to SOLID principles derived through intelligent application of proven patterns and I feel I've reached a point now where I truly grok their usage and where they can be most valuable, but that doesn't stop me from knuckling down and learning about things I still don't know that I don't know :)
As a hopefully useful side-note...
...my communication skills have had years of grooming such that now I am very confident in my ability to explain those very complex technical topics in ways that a business can make best use and judgement of them. I got over the nerves a long time ago, and now I just thrive in challenging situations that push my technical and people related skills.
